Staff

Edgbaston College has a team of experienced teachers across a range of A-Level subjects. Our teachers are all committed to helping students reach their full potential, in both their academic and personal goals.

Owais co-founded Edgbaston College in 2015 and serves as Principal. Before moving into education, he worked in mergers and acquisitions at UBS and J.P. Morgan.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and a PGDip in Entrepreneurship, both from the University of Warwick.

Umar co-founded Edgbaston College with Owais in 2015 and teaches A-Level Chemistry. He has more than 14 years’ experience teaching A-Level Chemistry and GCSE Science and is also an A-Level Chemistry examiner.

Umar holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham and a PGCE from the University of Warwick.

David is Vice Principal and teaches Biology at Edgbaston College. He brings almost three decades of teaching experience and previously served as Head of Sixth Form at a grammar school. He holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of Leeds.

Jeffrey is a qualified Mathematics and Physics teacher who has been part of Edgbaston College for six years. He holds an MA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. He teaches Mathematics and Further Mathematics and serves as Vice Principal and Academic Lead.

Steve is a qualified Mathematics teacher with more than 35 years’ experience, including teaching Further Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level and preparing students for STEP. He has worked as an examiner for over 30 years across the three main exam boards and has held senior leadership roles for more than two decades, including serving as a headteacher.

Steve holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and a PGCE from the University of Birmingham. Alongside teaching Mathematics and Further Mathematics at Edgbaston College, he works as an educational consultant.

Dan has more than 30 years’ experience teaching A-Level Economics and previously served as an Assistant Headteacher. Before entering teaching, he worked as an accountant at KPMG. He holds a BSc in Economics and Politics from the University of Birmingham and teaches Economics at Edgbaston College.

Husna is Edgbaston College’s Pastoral and Enrichment Officer, supporting student wellbeing and the wider experience of College life. She holds a BSc in Psychology with Counselling Skills from Middlesex University and an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from King’s College London.

David holds a BA in Geography from the University of Cambridge and has 30 years’ experience in education. He has taught in New Delhi, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Liverpool and later served for more than a decade as Headmaster of QEGS Wakefield.

Now teaching his favourite subject at Edgbaston College, David is also a current AQA examiner for A-Level Geography. Away from College, he remains a long-suffering Derby County supporter.
